Maths T3 wk 3

For maths this week we had to choose one strategy and record it with 2 questions of the same strategy I did tidy numbers. Our goal is to solve 2 & 3 digit problems by Tidy Numbers: 29 + 18 as 30 + 17. Solve 2 & 3 digit problems by Place Value: 33 + 16 as 30 + 10 + 3 + 6. Use a broad range of mental strategies to solve addition and subtraction problems. Below is my video of the tidy number strategy.

Question: do you know this strategy?

Birthday Month statistical investigation

Today we collected data about people's birthday months. We used google sheets to make this possible. We also added our teams (classes) onto the graph. The teams Rāta, Mānia, Korokio and Kōhia. I used the graphs bar graph and smooth line graph I put them on a google drawing below are my two graphs about birthday months. First we collected all the data as a whole hub then copied it and then turned it into 2 different types of graphs. That is how we did the statistical investigation.

Our Goals: choose an appropriate data, display using more than one variable, interpret information from graphs plan an investigation.

Question: Have you done a statistical investigation before?

Maths Create Task

Since we do a create task every week this blog post is about using a board range of strategies with multiplication and division problems. There are 2 hard and 2 easy ones, they are both different strategies. I don't think using the easy question strategy wouldn't really be useful for the harder questions. So to solve the harder questions you can use my strategy or a different one if you want to. So here is my create task oh and also have you done a create task before?

My create task for maths

My create task for maths this week is that we made a poster about using the strategy rounding and compensating. It makes it way easier for me does it make it easier for you?. The strategy is useful for harder questions and recommend it if you're doing questions like 23476+75324. You could also use tidy numbers as well if you wanted to. Here is my create.

Maths week 2

For maths this week (week 2) I did a graph on the on the cars in my street. Here are the final results. I didn't look at all the cars in the neighbourhood because it would take too long. I like how that 2 of the car colours are the same because they both were 6! I like how blue was one of the highest colours out of all of them because blue is one of my favourite colours ever.
